dear MPRE,

i know you like having power over me. i know you like making me feel stressed-out, confused, angry, and down on myself. but, you can do this no more.

despite the fact that i was no more ethical in march than i was in november, i have passed you. i have passed you with a score that will allow me to practice in any state i want. i have passed you, and i will never have to face you again.

no love,
the persecuted crack smoker

Yup. I'll take it again if I end up in New York. And, you know, study that time around.

hehe...yeah. the first time i took it, when i got a 75, i listened to a review lecture and took one practice test. the second time around i did some flash cards and took two practice tests. the problem was with how i did the practice tests...the first time, i didn't go back and look at why i was wrong or right, i just checked my answers, did pretty well, and left it at that--doing well on that first practice test was a fluke. the second time around i read all of the explanations as to why answers were right or wrong, and that helped me figure out how to take the test.

so, if you do go to new york, it won't take a lot of studying...just studying in a certain way.

Technically, you can't use it to practice in Washington state or California, as they do not use the MPRE. Separatist bastards.

in those cases, my failing score won't have *prohibited* me from practicing there.

and CA? are you sure? i knew WA and MD didn't use the MPRE, but i always thought CA did.

i looked it up...i was too lazy to, last night. the states that don't use the MPRE are Maryland, Washington, Wisconsin...and then, Puerto Rico also doesn't use it [the other US territories do use it.] also, if you get at least a C in professional responsibility, you don't have to take the course if you're taking the New Jersey or Connecticut bar.

I'm of the opinion that failing an ethics test proves that you are in fact more ethical than the people who pass it, because they're just proving they memorized all the correct answers and could care less about any actual ethics.

Therefore, by failing first and then passing, you have proved yourself the most ethical of all! Congratulations on your ethicity! :D
