barrister's

yesterday, i got a gorgeous light turquoise dress for barrister's. it's awesome...it's strapless, it's elegant, but not too plain. i'm psyched about it.

today, since i didn't have one, i bought a white, lacy corset to go under the barrister's dress.

yes, i know, it's kind of silly--why am i flipping out and spending all this money on hot clothes for barrister's if i don't have a date?

because it's fun. because formal events are the one girlie pleasure that i indulge. barrister's only comes once a year, and it's the one day that i allow myself to give a shit about how i look. i don't do that any other time of year--frankly, i don't care how i look. i know i'm not an attractive human being; i never have been. i'm okay with that, and i act accordingly.

but, when barrister's rolls around, it's fun to pretend.

I'm still debating Barrister's. I have a potential date, but not confirmed and a potential dress but I'm not sure I'm happy with it.

I didn't go last year and wanted to, but at this point it's in two weeks.

i love barrister's. i went last year...i went with my boyfriend, at the time. (we've since broken up, back in november.) i can't wait to go.

you should go if you find a dress you're happy with. :D it's all about having a fun dress to wear, and friends who are there.

having a date is optional...since all the people i can think of that i'd ever want to ask are law students, and right now i don't want to deal with that insular law-school-is-high-school drama, wanting to ask a law student makes asking anyone a moot point...i'm going stag, and i'm still convinced it will be awesome since lots of my friends will be there.
